• Do products need to come from a registered food business in order to enter?

 

Yes. All products submitted must be made by a registered food business recognised by authorities within their country of manufacture.

• I am not the manufacture of a product, can I enter products that I stock?

 

Yes, but you must seek and provide the approval of the supplier/manufacture before doing so. The awards are given to the product, not the person submitting.

• Why is there a fee to enter?

 

There are many costs that need to be considered when operating an award scheme. This includes administration, third party professional services, venue hire for judging, equipment, judging costs, winners plaques, design fees and more. Costs are kept to a minimum to help make entry affordable.

• I have multiple products that sit within one category, can I not enter them all?

 

No. You can only enter one product per category.

• Who will be judging the products?

 

We will be calling upon knowledgeable and experienced industry professionals to assess all products entered. We will use judges according to their areas of expertise so that they are presented with products linked to their trade and experience. This includes chefs, retailers and restauranteurs.

​

• How will I know if I have been given an award?

 

All winning entries will be notified via email during February 2024. Artwork and certification will be provided shortly after.

• How will I know if you have received my products for judging once I have shipped them?

 

We highly recommend using a tracked delivery service as we cannot provide not a receipt notification for each entry we receive.

• Can I change or withdraw an entry after submission?

 

You may be able to change an entry but you will need to contact us first to discuss. Entries can be withdrawn but we are unable to provide refunds.

• The shelf life of my product is naturally short, can I send my products after the deadline of 2nd February 2024?

 

We understand that some products will carry a short shelf life such as charcuterie and butter fudge. In some circumstances, we can accept deliveries after the deadline but this will need to be agreed in advance. Please contact us at info@cliftonchilliclub.com to discuss.

• Why should I enter the National Chilli Awards?

 

This is a professional award scheme that aims to highlight the best chilli based products available. Winners of Gold level award will receive an engraved plaque, certification and digital artwork for their winning items. In turn, this can help promote to retailers and consumers. There will be an overall category winner and a Golden Chilli Award for the best of the best. The organisers of the awards will also be promoting winning items using their reach of over 776,000 people.
